The BHQplus® probe is a novel compact probe for qPCR, modified with a duplex stabilizing technology and terminated with Biosearch’s Black Hole Quencher® dye. What differentiates the BHQplus probe from other traditional probes is that it permits the design of shorter oligonucleotides, typically 15 - 25 bases in length, for detecting more difficult target sequences. The enhanced specificity of BHQplus probes make them perfect for genotyping single nucleotide polymorphisms.

BHQplus probes are offered in two convenient deliveries. For BHQplus probes and primers delivered in individual tubes select just “BHQplus probes”, however if you would like the probes and primers blended into a single tube select “ValuMix Assay for SNP genotyping”.

ValuMix™ Assays for SNP genotyping comprises two custom BHQplus® probes and two primers combined within a single tube. This formulation minimizes pipetting error and simplifies your protocol by providing mixed oligonucleotides ready for SNP genotyping.

BHQplus probes feature:

1. Small but powerful: duplex stabilizers permit the design of shorter dual-labeled probes
2. High fidelity: shorter sequences offer an increased barrier against hybridizing to a mismatch
3. Proven performance: the Black Hole Quencher dye extinguishes fluorescence until target hybridization
4. Bottom line: An economical alternative for probe-based SNP Genotyping

Please be aware that sequences longer than 25 bases may have been designed as a traditional probe and are unlikely to work well in BHQplus form. Instead, consider ordering a BHQ® probe instead if such a sequence already has a predicted melting temperature of 70 °C. Conversely, sequences shorter than 15 bases may have been designed as a Minor Groove Binder (MGB™) probe and should first be analyzed for compatibility with the BHQplus chemistry.
